Tioga Center

The Tioga Centre General Store was built in 1849 by F.W.Schoonover. It served the hamlet of Tioga Center selling housewares, farm needs, sundries, clothing, dry goods, and equipment, and was always a popular meeting place for local residents. At one time it housed the local telephone exhange and in recent years operated as an antique shop and ice cream parlor. The building is now vacant and for sale. The Tioga Centre General Store is a substantially intact example of a mid-nineteenth-century Greek Revival commercial building and is the only surviving commercial structure of significance remaining in Tioga Center.
