Chemung Canal Bank Building

The Chemung Canal Bank Building is the oldest existing comercial structure in Elmira. Since its construction in 1833 the building has housed some noteworthy tenants, including Bank President John Arnot (1789-1873), and Elmira's first mayor and New York State Governor, David Hill (1843-1910).
