Fitches Covered Bridge
East Delhi
Fitches Covered Bridge is one of only ten of its type remaining in New York State. Originally spanning the Delaware River at Kingston Street in Delhi, it was relocated three miles upstream to Fitches Crossing in 1885. Set amid the picturesque surroundings of the Catskill Mountains, the bridge is one of four covered bridges in Delaware County. It is significant because of its long continuous use, and is a rare and substantially intact example of rural vernacular bridge design.
