THE DAVIDGE MANSION
31 Front Street, Binghamton, NY

The Jones property at 31 Front Street was purchased in 1903 by local businessman and entrepreneur Sherwood B. Davidge. The Davidge Mansion was built 1903-1904, designed by Sanford O. Lacey in neo-classical Colonial Revival style. After the death of Mrs. Davidge, the mansion was purchased in 1923 by St. Patrick’s Church. A three-story annex was built and it operated as a convent until 1987 when was purchased by the law firm of Grace, Hull and Vitanza. In 1993 the Roberson Museum & Science Center purchased it with a grant from the Decker Foundation. It was renamed Decker Exhibit Hall, then Decker Art and Cultural Center, and was home to the Binghamton Symphony, Broome County Arts Council, BC Pops, and Preservation Association of the Southern Tier until 2010 when it was purchased by a development company.
