In Historic Buildings

A 2-Day Workshop at Corning Community College, Elmira

A workshop with focus on energy conservation issues of interest to those who work with older buildings, but do not specialize in historic preservation or historic structures. Designed for contractors, architects and other building professionals, this workshop is presented by the Preservation League of New York State.

FIRST FRIDAY BANNER
Venue #1:
VISIT GREEN MAN PARK
Location: Corner of Court and State Streets, former site of the Ross Building.

PAST, in collaboration with the City of Binghamton, will display renderings of GREEN MAN PARK, a proposed public art installation and community park to be permanently located at that site.


City Hall TOUR
Venue #2:
TOUR OLD CITY HALL
Location: Grand Royale Hotel (former Binghamton City Hall), 80 State Street

In collaboration with Grand Royale Hotel, PAST will be conducting regular tours of one of Binghamton's most historic landmarks. Built in 1897, this building served as City Hall for 75 years and was later converted into a hotel. On the tour you'll learn the history of the building along with some of its secrets... like the hidden staircase, the tunnel, and even a few ghostly encounters.

BINGHAMTON'S BEAUX ARTS CITY HALL
City Hall EXHIBIT
An exhibit of current and vintage photographs and architectural drawings of Binghamton's original City Hall. Designed by Raymond Francis Almirall and built in 1897, this is the only example of French Renaissance Beaux Arts-style architecture in the area.

THE ROSS BUILDING GREEN MAN
GREEN MAN EXHIBIT
See the original Green Man salvaged from demolition of the Ross Building in Binghamton. A photo display tells the amazing story of salvage, repair, restoration, and finally, replication of this architectural treasure. Full size replicas will be on display and available for purchase.
